If you’re suffering from any of the following and need emergency dental care in Narberth, PA, please follow the instructions below we’ve provided.

TOOTHACHES

Begin by cleaning around the sore tooth. Use warm salt water to rinse the mouth clean of any food trapped between the teeth. Don’t use aspirin on the aching tooth or gums. If there’s any facial swelling, apply a cold compress to the area. Acetaminophen is recommended if there’s any pain or discomfort. If the pain persists for more than a day, please contact us.

BITTEN OR CUT LIP, CHEEK, OR TONGUE

Ice can be applied if there are any bruised areas. If there’s bleeding, you should apply firm, but gentle, pressure with a clean cloth or sterile gauze. If the bleeding continues longer than 15 minutes, please go to the nearest emergency room.

BROKEN TOOTH

You’ll want to recover all of the broken tooth fragments first. Rinse the area with warm water and then apply a cold compress over the facial area where the injury occurred. Please give us a call in order to seek immediate dental attention.

KNOCKED OUT TOOTH

First, recover the tooth and make sure to hold it by the crown and not the root. Rinse it, but don’t handle or clean the tooth more than necessary. Reinsert the tooth into the socket and hold it in place using a clean piece of cloth or gauze. If the tooth can’t be reinserted, keep it in a cup of water or milk. Time is of the essence, so you’ll want to see a dentist immediately.

BROKEN JAW

In the event of a broken jaw or possible broken jaw, you should tie the mouth closed with a towel, handkerchief, or any similar object. Go immediately to the closest emergency room.

COLD SORES OR CANKER SORES

If you have one of these sores, over-the-counter medication will typically provide relief. If the sores persist, please call us, as we can treat the affected area(s) with laser dentistry.
